Ross Howell graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in English and American Literature. He earned a Master’s degree in English and American Literature from Harvard University and an M.F.A. in fiction writing from the Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. A published author, Howell has taught expository writing, fiction writing, and introductory literature courses at the university level. He has served as a fund-raising officer, assistant to the president, communications director, senior editor, sales executive, and book publisher.
“Pinot” is an English cocker spaniel. She is a published essayist, and writes a quarterly column, “From My Cubicle,” for the Replacements, Ltd. employee newsletter in Greensboro, NC. At present she is conducting an independent study on dog treats. Her goal is to sample each dog treat currently produced in the U.S. and rate them individually for tastiness and nutritional value. Her hobbies include freshwater fishing and chasing squirrels in her neighborhood.
Both Pinot and Ross research and write about the history of porcelain, fine china dinnerware, sterling silver, and crystal.
